Dr Olubunmi H. Salako is an accomplished Consultant Paediatrician and holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Ibadan. She is recognised as a Fellow of the National Post Graduate Medical College (FMCPaed), reflecting her commitment to excellence in the field of paediatrics.

Her academic journey continued with the successful completion of her Residency Training at the renowned Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba. Dr Salako’s international exposure includes an internship in France, where she focused on “Clinical Trials in Cardio metabolic Syndrome in Children.” Furthering her dedication to professional development, she earned an Executive Certification in “Project Management in Global Health” from the George Washington University and completed a Post Graduate Program in “Paediatric Nutrition” from Boston University School of Medicine, USA. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Lagos, complemented by various other notable professional certifications.

With a rich academic background and diverse professional experience, Dr Salako has made significant contributions to paediatrics. She has served in key roles at institutions such as Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), AIDS Prevention Initiative of Nigeria (APIN), and collaborated with the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD) on the “Monitoring Antiretroviral Resistance in Children-Nigeria- MARCH Ni Study” during her tenure at APIN. Prior to this, she garnered valuable experience at Life-Line Children Hospital and in the public sector with the Local Government in Ogun State, Nigeria.

Currently, Dr Salako holds the position of Head, Clinical Services and Quality Assurance at Avon Medical Practice. In this role, she brings a wealth of expertise, a commitment to excellence, and a global perspective, overseeing and ensuring the highest standards of clinical services and quality assurance within the practice. Her continuous pursuit of knowledge, coupled with her diverse experiences, positions her as a distinguished leader in the field of paediatrics and global health.
